Signing up for a First Aid course is a powerful step — but for many, it can also be an uncertain one. Will it be too technical? Will you have to act out scenarios? Is it just a tick-box exercise?
At Essex First Aid & Wellbeing (EFAW), we’re here to remove the mystery and make First Aid training accessible, engaging, and empowering. Whether you’re a parent, business owner, construction worker, teacher, or team leader, our training is designed to equip you with life-saving skills in a supportive environment.
In this blog, we’ll walk you through what you can expect on one of our First Aid courses — from what you’ll learn and how it’s delivered, to what sets EFAW apart.
Why People Take First Aid Training
Everyone has a different reason for enrolling. Some of the most common include:
Meeting workplace or legal requirements
Becoming a designated First Aider at work
Preparing for parenthood or childcare responsibilities
Gaining confidence in public spaces or community groups
Building a safer, more responsive workplace
Supporting mental wellbeing as a Mental Health First Aider
Whatever your reason, we tailor the experience to your goals and your level of experience.
What Makes EFAW Different?
Here’s what our learners say sets us apart:
Experience-based instruction: Wes and our team have seen real emergencies — and know how to teach others what to expect.
Customised delivery: We adapt our content to your sector — whether it’s education, construction, hospitality, or healthcare.
On-site flexibility: We can come to your workplace, saving you time and money.
Supportive environment: No pressure. No jargon. Just real learning with a personal touch.
Mental Health focus: We’re one of the few providers equally focused on physical and mental First Aid.
Assessment and Certification
Most courses involve practical demonstrations and participation-based assessment. You won’t be put on the spot with tricky written exams — we assess your confidence and capability through observed practice.
