Level: 3 (Paediatric First Aid) Duration: 12 hours (over 2 days and blended online) Location: Colchester training venue or delivered as site training for groups across Essex Price: £850 per group (up to 12 learners) Certification: Accredited and valid for 3 years What You’ll Learn: The Paediatric First Aid course Essex covers all the key topics needed to keep children safe in emergencies: ​ The role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider. Assessing emergencies and ensuring child safety. CPR for babies, children, and young people (with including manikins that provide CPR feedback for realistic practice). Safe use of an AED (defibrillator) for children. Recovery position for infants and children. Dealing with choking, including choking for infants, children and older children. Control of bleeding and shock, ensuring effective emergency responses. Recognising and treating illnesses due to asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, meningitis, and illness due to heat or cold. Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis management. Head injuries, burns, poisoning, and fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains Febrile convulsions and childhood seizures. Minor injuries and everyday accidents common in schools and nurseries. ​ By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and practical experience to act with confidence during paediatric emergencies, whatever the specific requirements of their childcare setting.
